DSFederal scored a top mention in the August 23 edition of the Business Gazette as the second-highest ranked business in Maryland, based on the 2013 Inc. 500 results. The story, which landed on the front page of the newspaper and its online edition, cited Montgomery County as the home of the fastest-growing small businesses in the state. Of the 19 Maryland businesses on the 2013 Inc. 500, 10 are headquartered in Montgomery County.
This year marked the first time since 2002 that the county was home to the top two private businesses in the state. Experts quoted in the story attributed this achievement to the close proximity of Federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg.
DSFederal is strategically positioned near its Federal clients scattered throughout Montgomery County and Maryland, with NIH just 20 minutes away and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Emmitsburg, MD about 45 minutes away. This proximity allows DSFederal to stay intimately connected to its clients and their individual needs, consistent with one of the company’s core values: Putting the client first.
Inc magazine's 2013 Inc. 500 rankings originally listed DSFederal at 56. The magazine soon revised its original results because of a discrepancy with another awardee, according to an Inc. editor, moving DSFederal up one spot, to 55.
