"Thrive in Love" concert raises $20,000 for Malawi-based Amitofo Care Centre

Maryland-based DSFederal, Inc. raised $20,000 in support of Amitofo Care Centre (ACC), a charity that benefits African children, at the “Thrive in Love” concert, the result of a four-month effort to organize the Washington D.C. leg of the group's seven-city U.S. tour.

The performance marked the Washington, D.C. debut of the ACC, an international NGO that houses more than 1200 orphans throughout Malawi, Lesotho, and Swaziland. At the 2 1/2-hour show in Gaithersburg, the ACC children captivated the crowd with an array of energetic dancing and singing routines characterized by their signature fusion of Chinese and African cultures. These influences stem from ACC's Taiwanese founder, Venerable Master Hui Lee, who arrived in Africa in 1992 and established the ACC to provide a “safe and comfortable environment with sufficient opportunities to learn basic morality and insight through Buddhism and life skills.”

DSFederal, through the DSFederal IDEA Foundation, has continued to contribute resources to charities across the world. In his speech to several hundred fundraiser attendees, DSFederal president, Michael J. Parker noted, “A very old Buddhist saying that is relevant here, is that ‘One candle can light a thousand candles.' These children will go on to light candles all across Africa, and it is our job to help them do it’”. Please contact idea@dsfederal if you are interested in sponsoring a child with a monthly $20 donation.

Additional DSFederal support for international organizations includes an annual fundraiser and supply delivery benefiting the Aschiana Center in Kabul, Afghanistan, which empowers, educates, and supports Afghan women and children in refugee centers across Kabul.
