DSFederal, Inc., a Maryland-based consulting firm, has been awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to support the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID.) The contract, which carries a ceiling value of $250 million, provides a range of research, scientific, and technical support services to USAMRIID and Federal research laboratories nationwide. USAMRIID, located in Frederick, Maryland, is the nation’s leading biodefense research agency. Its facilities include highly secure labs specially equipped to study emerging pathogens and develop products to combat them. DSFederal is one of seven awardees for Research and Development Support Services to USAMRIID.
The award launches DSFederal, a leading small business providing Federal health solutions, firmly into the defense health arena. The firm has provided information technology, data analytics, and training to the National Institutes of Health and other agencies with a biomedical research focus since 2009; with the addition of USAMRIID to its client roster, DSFederal significantly expands its role in Federally funded research and development.
In keeping with the company’s mission to “connect the dots” for its customers, DSFederal’s team comprises several partners with specialized expertise relevant to USAMRIID. The team includes Leidos, a longtime biopharmaceutical and medical science partner to diverse military and civilian agencies; KAI, a clinical research organization; and Metabiota, a research firm specializing in pathogen detection and discovery worldwide. Biosurety firm Inspirion and the global infrastructure solutions giant Black & Veatch will support tasks related to biosecurity and safety, facilities management, and quality assurance. Other partners include Palladian, a science writing and communications firm; and FastTrack, a research firm specializing in clinical trial and data management support.
“This is a major win for DSFederal,” said CEO Sophia Parker. “We’ve been focused since Day 1 on helping our customers meet health-related missions. Supporting research on emerging pathogens, working to counter biological threats to our armed forces and citizens—this is exactly why I started DSFederal. USAMRIID is a national treasure, and we’re honored to work with its researchers to make a difference every day.”
