Nneka Hector, Senior Web Developer at DSFederal Inc., was a guest on The Dave and Gunnar Show to discuss Drupal, a website content management system used by many government agencies. The Dave and Gunnar Show stars David "Dave" Egts, Chief Technologist of Red Hat's Public Sector; and Gunnar Hellekson, Director of Product Management for Red Hat's Linux, Virtualization, and Atomic container product lines.
On the podcast, which features discussion of open-source technologies, Nneka, along with Adam Weingarten of Acquia, engaged in a passionate discussion of the recently released Drupal 8, including its increased object-oriented focus and IT security considerations. Nneka also expanded on her frequent use of Drupal on OpenShift, Red Hat's Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), which allows developers to build and scale applications in a cloud environment.
Nneka also addressed the annual Drupal GovCon, and her session on Behavior-Driven Development. This event is one of the biggest Drupal conferences on the East Coast; it engages Drupal community leaders worldwide and attracts users from government, nonprofit organizations, private companies, and labor unions. This year’s Drupal GovCon 2016 will be held in the Natcher Conference Center at the National Institutes of Health Campus from July 20-22.
Nneka has been with DSFederal Inc. for two years, and she had previously worked as Senior Technology Consultant (Blackstone Technology Group), Lead Developer (DRT Strategies), Web Developer (Virilion and Democracy Data & Communications), and Software Engineer (Verizon.) Nneka encouraged listeners who are interested in learning more about Drupal to visit the online Washington, DC Drupalers forum and the DC Area Drupal Meetup Group.
