DSFederal was pleased to sponsor (and attend) Friday’s Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Public Safety Awards Luncheon, an annual event that honors Montgomery County’s police, fire, and other emergency personnel. Held at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, the event brought together business leaders, elected representatives and candidates; and many police officers, firefighters, and other law enforcement and emergency professionals. Outgoing Montgomery County Executive Isiah “Ike” Leggett, accepting the MCCC Public Safety Champion of the Year Award, praised the “real heroes,” the first responders of Montgomery County.
NBC4 anchors Eun Yang and Leon Harris emceed the awards ceremony, sharing inspiring stories of courage, self-sacrifice, and ingenuity. Among many highlights was the MCCC Public Safety Government Partner of the Year Award, recognizing the Montgomery County detectives and law enforcement personnel from several other jurisdictions, who helped to solve the 40-year-old murder of Sheila and Katherine Lyon, just 12 and 10 when they disappeared in 1975.
Our company makes its home in Montgomery County, as do many of our employees (including our CEO Sophia Parker, the 2017 Small Business Leader of the Year). We’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of the first responders who serve Montgomery County’s citizens, and delighted to have the opportunity to thank and honor them.
