The National Institutes of Health Training Center (NIHTC) is the dedicated organization for NIH-specific training and professional development programs. The pandemic has presented unique challenges, especially for the graduation of the Management Intern and Presidential Management Fellows Program (MI/PMF) -- without the ability to gather in person, NIHTC celebrated its new grads with a virtual graduation.

The Graduation Committee and NIHTC staff began planning in May, but as the event drew closer, NIHTC realized that the ceremony would require additional technical assistance. This is where Tech Support Specialist Glenn Dempster and Deputy Project Manager Jamel Porter stepped in. “[Glenn and Jamel] were instrumental in making NIH’s first-ever virtual Graduation a success,” said Roxie Daneshvar, NIHTC Program Manager, praising members of the DSFederal staff. “[They] were brought in less than two weeks before the big day. They both kindly offered to help, dove in without hesitation to take on critical roles and responsibilities, and brought a sense of calm and confidence to the team.”

Glenn “jumped in to run the slideshow and didn’t miss a beat when one of the speakers added a highly technical and complex element the day before the ceremony,” Roxie continued. “[Jamel] provided crucial technical support, working with speakers to ensure that they had the Zoom support they needed for the Event.” “This success would not have been possible without Glenn and Jamel’s contributions. At every turn, they exemplified professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork.” Congratulations to the 2020 graduates of the NIHTC MI and PMF programs. DSFederal is immensely proud of our staff Glenn and Jamel and the NIHTC Team for orchestrating this smooth and successful ceremony.
